We are proud to sell Podium Pro Audio's 18" musical instrument concert subs. Sophisticated design and measurement equipment, including computer assisted design software was used to design this sub to give the best quality performance and longer life. The 120oz 18" woofer with accordion edge surrounds delivers high SPL and low distortion. The twin port design smooths air flowing in and out of the cabinet, reducing turbulence and port noise. The twin ports also increase linearity, lowers distortion, reduces 5th order harmonic distortion, provide an output increase as high as 2-3 dB and help to reach extra low bass. This sub speaker is used by musicians, DJ's, rental companies and many fixed installations including houses of worship, theaters, music halls, meeting rooms, amusement parks, hotels, stadiums, nightclubs and auditoriums. No cheap materials used, this heavy duty rugged speaker is constructed tough with low resonance top-grade 3/4" MDF wood to exceed your highest expectations! Deluxe black aviation carpet is used to prevent premature wear. Two speakon and two 1/4 inch jack terminals provide multiple connection possibilities to pass the signal though to another speaker. The unique flush pole mount on the top of the cabinet allows this sub to be used rather than a speaker stand. The PPSUB18 is a front of house passive subwoofer loaded with a stock Podium Pro 18" driver with a 4" voice coil.

Sound Quality : 10 For the price the PPSUB18 has excellent low end response and no audible distortion. I power both subs with a QSC 800 bridged at 4ohms delivering about 750 watts to both cabinets. I'm getting just the right amount of 'thump' and punch' I'm looking for. I use one on each side of the stage stacked with a Wharfedale LIX-C15SB sub and a Wharfedale LIX-C15 15" 2-way cabinet. The Wharfedales are driven by a Peavey 2600 power amp. The combination of the Wharfedales and the Podium Pros is awesome.
Features : 9 Each cabinet is pretty heavy (about 115lbs.) so you can't just chuck these babies over your shoulder and go; you'll need a two wheeler or a cart. For me, the heaviness just adds to the overall solid feel of the product. The handles are cut into each side of the cabinet; which is a great idea in that they can never break or come out. There is a metal pole mount (which I don't use)in the top center. Overall, the PPSUB18 seems to be built like a tank; the only thing I'm not too thrilled with is the use of aviation carpet on the outside...but that seems to be the norm these days. Overall Rating : 10 The Podium Pro PPSUB18 stacks up to just about any passive 'big name' subwoofer. They deliver just as much (and in some cases more) chest-thumping punch as the Peavey, Samson, JBL, Kustom's Ardent series, and Yamaha subs that I've used. They are perfect for small to medium sized venues, are rock solid, and should last for years. And the price? Well, for $400 a pair with free shipping, they're really an incredible deal.
